Bendigo City is in ninth place on the National Premier League Victoria west conference ladder with 24 points, six behind Saturday’s rival Whittlesea Ranges FC.
Bendigo has been much more consistent in the past month, but only has three draws to show for its efforts.
Defensively, Bendigo has conceded just three goals in four games – it’s best four-game stretch of the season.
The inability to finish off the good work at the other end of the pitch has been costly.
Bendigo and Whittlesea played out at 1-1 draw when the two teams met at Truscott Reserve earlier this season.
Whittleas have proven to be a much tougher nut to crack on its home pitch at Epping Stadium. Six of the Ranges eight wins this season have come on home soil.
With next week’s final home and away game of the season at Epsom against sixth-placed St Albans, Bendigo City has the opportunity to finish a frustrating year with two wins.
Meanwhile, the Bendigo City FC juniors face a daunting task on Sunday when they travel to Melbourne to play the powerful Melbourne Knights.
The highlight of the day will be the under-16 battle, with third-placed Bendigo and fifth-placed Melbourne separated by just three points.
The Bendigo City FC juniors have three rounds remaining for the season.
