SUPERHEROES have been sighted in Golden Square as National Superhero Week kicks off.
National Superhero Week runs until September 4 and helps raise funds to fight Muscular Dystrophy.
More than 140 organisations around the country registered for the week and will don the colourful spandex to help with fundraisers.
“This event over the past two years has really captured the imaginations of school children and brought colleagues together as they swapped uniforms and suits for Superman and Batman costumes,” Muscular Dystrophy Australia’s executive director Boris M Struk said.
There are 60 different variation of Muscular Dystrophy and about one in 600 Australians suffer from some for of it.
The disease is a progressive muscle wasting disorder that eventually causes immobility, respiratory problems and cardiac complications.
Funds raised during National Superhero Week will support MDA services and research by the National Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre in Melbourne.
