Needs has had a decorated career at the Saints, with his longevity shown in the fact he’s the only player still playing from the club’s back-to-back premiership teams of 1998-99.
Needs debuted for the Saints in 1996 and within four years had not only won two flags, but been named in St Arnaud’s Team of the Century as a 19-year-old after just 64 games.
Arguably Needs’ greatest performance for the Saints was the 1998 grand final when he hauled down 19 marks and won the Des Darcy Medal for best on ground in the 53-point win over Donald.
Key forward Needs has won six best and fairests for the Saints and booted 775 goals for the club.
