The free Bendigo Festival continues today with the Beethoven in Bendigo at the Bendigo Bank Theatre in The Capital at noon and You Can Do that With That? session at Bendigo Library at 1.30pm.
You Can Do that With That? also includes a reed making demonstration.
The Bendigo Festival culminates with a free Orchestra Victoria performance at Ulumbarra from 7pm on Saturday night.
Bookings are essential for the Ulumbarra performance despite it being a free event.
Concert master and first violin Roger Jonsson said OV was looking to create a festival atmosphere all this week.
“It is very important for us. We are Orchestra Victoria, not Orchestra Melbourne,” he said.
“That is why we put a great emphasis on playing in regional Victoria.”
Orchestra Victoria’s educational program On the mOVe also saw students get the chance to work with the orchestra musicians.
This year’s program culminated with a showcase concert at The Capital on Thursday night.
“It is a great program for secondary school music students who have been practicing but have little opportunity to play in a larger orchestra,” artistic director of Orchestra Victoria Nicolette Fraillon said.
“We have 13 Orchestra Victoria musicians who work with the conductor and do a few sessions (with students).”
Students and Orchestra Victoria musicians took advantage of the arts precinct on Wednesday to host a series of pop-up performances.
The group performed at Alexandra Fountian, the Rosalind Park rotunda, Hargeaves Mall and Borchelli Ristorante.
“We are keen to give people who wouldn’t ordinarily come along a chance to see performances at different times of the day in different places and access something new,” Ms Fraillon said.
“(Bendigo) is a pretty amazing destination for the arts.”
