The Lady Braves defeated Frankston 60-52 on Saturday night and another win this Friday night against Brisbane will guarantee Bendigo can’t finish lower than third.
A Bendigo win combined with an upset win by Frankston over Hobart would hand the Lady Braves second place and the double chance for the play-offs.
“We’d love to finish second, but all we can concentrate on is winning our game to make sure we at least finish third and get a home final,’’ Lady Braves coach Jonathan Goodman said.
Elyse Penaluna was again the hero for the Lady Braves in Saturday night’s win. The centre scored 28 points and grabbed 25 rebounds.
Playing without Opals’ Kelly Wilson and Tessa Lavey, the Lady Braves received crucial contributions from Kerryn Harrington (13 points, six rebounds), Stacia Robertson (eight points, six rebounds) and Andrea Wilson (six points, four boards).
