Scots looked set for an easy win when they scored eight runs in the third innings to establish a 12-4 lead.
Scots still held a six-run lead at the bottom of the final innings before Falcons launched a five-run surge to set up a grandstand finish.
Their gallant run fell short and Scots celebrated a 12-11 win. Scots remain undefeated, and will welcome senior players back in the coming weeks. Billy Parsons and John Taylor were their best.
John Taylor (3), Billy Parsons (3), Darcy Harrison (2), Tyson Cox-Davies (2), Sean Meldrum, Lachlan Jack, Glenn Farrell, Nigel Petri were safe hitters for Scots.
Justin Slattery (2), Brad Muns (2), Dale Lindrea (2), Zac Stayner (2), Mick Peters and Josh Brown were the safe hitters for Falcons.
In the other A-grade game, Strath Dodgers kept their finals chances alive by scoring three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to record a stirring come from behind victory over Bendigo East.
It was the second time Dodgers have beaten East in the last innings this season, Andrew McKindley providing the game winning hit on each occasion.
For Dodgers, Josh Cruse pitched an outstanding game and Nick Whatley hit the ball with power.
For East, Loes Asmus pitched very well, but tired late in the game. Brendan Aikman was on base four times for East in five at bats in an outstanding display of hitting.
Nick Whatley (2), Andrew McKindley, Sam Longford, Steve Skipper, Josh Cruse, Neil Shaw and Craig Eeels were the safe hitters for Dodgers.
Brendan Aikman (2), Callum Mitchell (2), Nigel Close, James Bray and Brad Huggard were safe hitters for East.
In B-grade, Scots had six fewer hits than Falcons but still managed to win the game 5-4.
Dave Mathews and Keegan Davies were the best of Scots’ hitters, but their best player was Glenn Farrell who pitched four innings and only gave up one run.
In C-grade, Scots scored seven runs in the second inning to set up its 9-5 win over Falcons. The highlight for Falcons was an inside the park home run from Myles Wade.
The pitching of Ashlea Allaway was the highlight of Falcons 5-0 under-16 win over Dodgers.
Allaway pitched a one-hit shut out over, with Dodgers’ lone hit coming from Cooper Ashwin. Charlie Manning was best with the bat for Falcons with two hits.
Falcons scored a 17-6 win in the under-13s. Ethan Teasdale was best for Scots, while Graycen Dillon, Harry Fitzgerald and Roey Cornish were best for Falcons.
