The Hawks’ victory earned them a League Cup home semi-final against Colts United on September 20, while Strathdale slipped to second on the ladder and will be away to Spring Gully in the other semi-final.
After a tight first half, second-half goals from Chris Hopley, Daniel Kelly and Stefano La Rosa won the game for the Borough. It’s only the second time this season across both competitions that Strathdale has suffered a defeat.
James Chick, Nick Watson and Mark Brayshaw were best for the Blues.
In the other pool 1 match, a hat-trick from Trent Gladstone wasn’t enough to give Epsom the maximum points against Moama.
The Scorpions led 2-0 early and looked set for victory when Gladstone’s third put them 3-2 in front. However, Moama finished the stronger and levelled the scores with 10 minutes remaining. Moama had further chances to win the game, but had to settle for a 3-3 draw.
In pool 2, Colts United clinched a semi-final berth with a 6-3 win over Golden City.
Dylan Callaway scored three goals and Adam Castleton a brace in the win.
