The Opals line-up, which includes Champions IGA Bendigo Lady Braves team-mates Elyse Penaluna, Kelly Wilson and Tessa Lavey, scored an 84-64 victory in Wednesday night’s match at Frankston.
Australia’s attack was led by Steph Talbot on 19 points and six rebounds.
One of the young stars in the Bendigo Bank Spirit’s line-up of the past two WNBL seasons, Sara Blicavs racked up 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the Opals win.
Opals coach Brendan Joyce was rapt with the team’s performance.
“Right across the board there were contributions,” Joyce said.
“Lavey was pretty good. Madge (Tess Madgen) was fantastic again.”
Friday’s match at Ballarat’s Minerdome tips off at 7pm.
