The two-storey building at 101 Mitchell Street, which houses the My Teppanyaki Japanese Restaurant, was purchased by a local investor within days of the July 21 auction date.
It was sold for an undisclosed sum, agent Darren Mawby of Mawby Property said.
Mr Mawby said property within the CBD was highly sought and an early sale confirmed buyer demand for inner-city freeholds was strong.
“We had some good interest and a great offer before the auction, so the owners said ‘we’ll take that,” he said.
The buyer is a local investor and would soon place the property for lease, Mr Mawby said.
The owners are “ecstatic” the property has sold. The popular Japanese restaurant will close in coming months as owners Mami and Yoshi Ikeda will move to Melbourne.
The building is part of the former Terminus Hotel and features a residential area upstairs.
