For the second time this year, Fitzgerald heads west to compete in Adelaide this Saturday night.
Joining him for his latest trek to South Australia and also aiming to box well is Scanlon.
Through ARB’s backing the teenagers will be able to gain valuable experience.
Hit Factory trainer Danniel Burton said this year it had become increasingly difficult for Fitzgerald and Scanlon to gain suitable matches in their home state.
“We have had to look at going interstate,” Burton said of bouts for Fitzgerald, who fights in the under-19s 60kg class, and Scanlon, under-16 48kg division.
Saturday night’s bouts will be 12th and 8th for Fitzgerald, 17, and Scanlon, 15, respectively.
“If it had not been for ARB’s support then it would have been tough for the boys to go across to Adelaide.
“Sponsorship like this is a huge plus for the gym,” Burton said.
“The drive to compete means so much in training.”
A highlight of this year was Tully Scanlon’s effort to claim silver at his first national championships on the Gold Coast.
The teenager is determined to earn another title shot at this year’s Australian Amateur Boxing Association championships.
Greg Scanlon said support for the Golden Square-based Hit Factory was a way of giving back to the community.
ARB Bendigo is a sponsor of Golden Square Football Netball Club and Golden Square Junior Football Club.
“From an individual perspective I have seen how many hours Tully puts into training,” Greg Scanlon said.
“It’s an incredible effort by him and all the other boxers.
“Danniel also puts in so much time and effort.
“ARB’s support is a way to help others pursue their goals.”
Another of Hit Factory’s stars eyeing more bouts as the year rolls on is Jocelyn Amiet.
Her campaign toward another national championships begins with the Victorian titles in early August.
Burton said plans include the Golden Gloves tournament in Queensland later in the year.
