Mr Niemann said the annual survey of 400 residents was a useful tool in helping the City to set priorities.
The main objective of the survey is to assess the performance of the City across a range of measures and to seek insight into ways to provide improved and more effective service delivery.
This year’s statewide survey was undertaken in the period of February 1, 2015 to March 30, 2015.
Mr Niemann said the survey results were a mixed bag however the Overall Performance rating of 60 was on par with the statewide result and two points higher than the regional centres average (58). The City scored 63 in 2014, 2013 and 2012.
“It was particularly pleasing to score a 61 in the new Sealed Local Roads category which has well exceeded the state and regional averages of 55,” Mr Niemann said.
“The City also continues to rate well in the Arts Centres and Libraries category with a score of 82 (84 in 2014, 79 in 2013 and 77 in 2012) and Appearance of Public Areas category with a score of 74 (77 in 2014, 71 in 2013 and 69 in 2012).”
He said the Customer Service rating of 71 was on par with the regional average and above the statewide average of 70 however below the 75 recorded in 2014.
“There have been significant changes in community perception in some categories over the past year, including Making Community Decisions with a score of 51 (59 in 2014), and the Overall Direction of the City of Greater Bendigo with a score of 52 (58 in 2014),” Mr Niemann said.
“Council and the executive team are keen to analyse the results and to further investigate the causes for these changes so improvements can be made.”
