Dr Asaid, who has worked all across central Victoria, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to medicine as a general practitioner, and to Bendigo.
He has worked in Bendigo, Boort, Rochester, Elmore, Heathcote and Rushworth during his 20 years as a GP in central Victoria.
"I'm passionate about rural Victoria and giving people the highest possible possible standard of medical care," he said.
Other central Victorians to be honoured include Echuca's Donald Hicks, for service to lawn bowls and to sport; Kyneton's Dianne Foggo, for service to tertiary education administration and development, the advancement of women and industrial relations; and former first lady of East Timor Kirsty Sword Gusmao.
