We're going to work our way up and sample a few more wines.
- Robyn Frampton
Melbourne couple Robyn and Tim Frampton have been holidaying in Heathcote for the past 12 years and said they'd seen the town mature in that time through events like Heathcote on Show.
"It's absolutely fantastic to have events like this and not only for the local community but for people coming up from Melbourne, it's an easy trip from Melbourne and it's a great place to stay," Mrs Frampton said.
"I think these events are terrific, we're going to work our way up and sample a few more wines and take some home with us."
Heathcote on Show committee chair Judy Maine said the weekend offered a chance to sample the local wine and produce while enjoying the community atmosphere.
"The event really tried to draw as many people as we can, obviously from Melbourne, but very much also a greater focus on Bendigo, it's just on our doorstep and we saw success from that last year so we've done that again this year," she said.
"Because it's a long weekend we also get a lot of drive through traffic. People see that the town is decorated, there's a lot of activity going on and that makes them stop which also then makes them find out about the event and what we do is direct people out to the wineries."
The weekend's festivities have also included a community festival and free children's attractions including a petting zoo, jumping castle, face painting and pony rides.
Heathcote on Show continues until 10pm tonight, for a program and more information visit www.heathcoteonshow.com.au or contact the Heatcote Visitor Information Centre on 5433 3121.
