Blencowe has been appointed Golden Square's new senior coach ahead of the 2015-16 Bendigo District Cricket Association season.
Blencowe has coached junior teams at under-11, 13, 15 and 17 level for Square, as well as having captained the club's second XI side since arriving at Wade Street.
"This role is something I've always wanted to do and the timing is now right," Blencowe said on Wednesday.
"I've coached a lot of these kids who are now starting to play senior cricket from the under-11s... Scott Woodman, Connor Miller, my young bloke Josh, Jake Higgins and Callum Tibbett.
"We know we've got some good youngsters here and I'm looking forward to working with them again."
As well as the continued development of the club's younger players, Blencowe will also be determined to ensure Square's first XI side produces an improved performance after tumbling down the ladder last season.
From grand finalists in 2013-14, Square won just four of its 12 games last season to finish ninth.
"Our bowlers worked well last season, but we just didn't make enough runs or build enough partnerships," Blencowe said.
"We missed Darren Clutton last season and we'll be working hard to get him back, and there's also a lot of Golden Square players who have played here previously that we're looking to get back to the club."
Blencowe - who takes over as coach from Scott Johnson - expects Golden Square will begin pre-season training in late July.
As well as the appointment of Blencowe as senior coach, Square has also announced Liam Smith as fielding coach and Scott Johnson as fitness coach. Tim Wood will continue as captain of the first XI.
"Last season was obviously disappointing, but we feel we've got the right people in the right positions to improve," Blencowe said.
