Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell said there was no policy for government departments to prioritise Victorian products ahead of imported substitutes.
''This presents an opportunity for the Government to develop a policy that supports Victorian manufacturers,” Ms Lovell said.
Elyptol has developed a natural hand sanitiser certified by the Therapeutic Goods Administration for the healthcare market.
The product has been listed on the NSW healthcare tender contract list since 2012.
“Elyptol has made many attempts to engage with the relevant healthcare agencies in Victoria, including writing to the Health Minister,” Ms Lovell said.
“To date, they have not received any response to their letter or even acknowledgment of receipt from the Government.
“The inclusion of Victorian manufactured products on the department procurement list would be a positive step towards supporting local businesses by the Andrews Labor Government.”
Ms Lovell also raised in Parliament this week the opportunity for the Andrews Labor Government to development policy to prioritise Victorian foods products ahead of imported substitutes to support our Victorian food producers.
