But either way, she can’t lose.
Lining up in the goalsquare for Colbinabbin will be Mikayla’s partner of five years, spearhead Grant Weeks.
But coaching the opposition Hawks will be her father, Jamie Hogan.
Jamie says there has been plenty of banter between he and Weeks in the lead-up to this week’s crucial game, but come Saturday afternoon, it will be no laughing matter.
“I’ve been inviting him around to dinner all week, but he’s not accepting the invitation,” Jamie quipped on Wednesday.
“There’s been a bit of banter this week... it will mean a little bit to him, and it will to me as well to get one up on him.
“I’d like to think I know his game pretty well and have some good insights from our time at Golden Square.
“Our best way of defending him is not allowing the ball to get down to him, so the midfield battle and the pressure on their ball-carriers is going to be crucial.
“We’ll be aiming to both dry up his scoring opportunities and make sure that when the ball does get in their forward line there’s no easy delivery.”
Huntly (4-2) and Colbinabbin (3-2) sit third and fourth on the ladder entering their round seven clash in what’s a contest the Hawks are approaching as a mid-season final.
Star forward Weeks - in his first season back at Colbinabbin since 2009 - has kicked 29 goals in his five games for the Grasshoppers.
“We’ve been a bit tongue-in-cheek about it this week, but when it comes down to it, we’re opposition and we’ll both be there to win on Saturday,” Weeks said.
“Huntly and Colbinabbin always have a good rivalry and to get one up on Jamie this week would be good.”
Huntly’s opponents this year have played Colbinabbin the previous week, meaning Weeks has been able to provide Jamie with some insight on what to expect from the opposition.
But not this week.
“He rings every week to ask about the team we’ve just played, but there won’t be any sharing of knowledge about Colbo,” Weeks said.
And as for Mikayla, who will her allegiance be towards: "I can't say one way or another... as long as Grant kicks a bag, I'll be happy."
