Widdowson spent six weeks teaching the youngsters the basics of tennis as well as encouraging them to get more involved with some sort of sport outside of school hours.
Kalianna teacher Rob Brown said the students who participated in the program had learnt a lot.
"Jim modified his program for the students, he worked on ball tracking, hand and eye coordination and basic rally's," he said.
"At the end of the hour session they all played in a game, which was fun and had the kids really engaged."
Brown said sport was an important for students who were living with a disability.
“I have been a P.E teacher for four years and through that time we have had Braves players, football teams, people from Netball Victoria come to the school and Jim approached us to see if the kids would like to play tennis and they have loved it,” he said.
“Sport is the leveller and now a high percentage of kids are now playing sport.”
