The Bulls scored four goals into the breeze in the opening term at Birchip.
Superb defence kept Donald to just five points by three quarter-time.
The Royals scored their first goal in the final term and added another to cut the deficit to 26 points.
Back-to-back goals put Birchip-Watchem back in control as it went on to win 9.7 (61) to 4.9 (33).
Best for the Bulls were Ratcliffe, Cusack and Hinkley.
Donald's best were Garner, Jewell and Fisher.
The Charlton line-up was on the rebound from a loss to Donald when it took on Wycheproof-Narraport.
Charlton led 24-2 at quarter-time.
Goals were scarce in the second term as the Navy Blues led by 16 points at the long break.
In a contest where defences were on top, Charlton went on to win 65-30.
Joe McGrath kicked four goals for Charlton and was among the best with Rhys Thompson, Joe McClean and Luke Mulquiny.
The Demons' attack was led by James Coatsworth on three goals.
George Turner, Chris Howgate and James Coatsworth were best for the Demons.
St Arnaud kicked more than 20 goals in consecutive games.
The Saints beat an improving Boort Magpies by 117 points.
St Arnaud kept Boort goalless as it surged to a 37-point lead at quarter-time.
Led by the play of Tipungwuti, Batters and Vassallo, the Saints charged to a 74-point lead by half-time.
St Arnaud added nine goals in the third, but Boort's hard work was rewarded with a couple of goals.
Although the Saints were well in front at the start of the last term, the Magpies scored six goals in their best performance this season.
Leading goalkickers for St Arnaud were Gavin Vassallo on six, Adam Tipungwuti on five, and Jacob Tillig on four.
Boort coach Sam Taylor kicked two goals and was the Magpies best player.Aaron Wilson, Jack Smith and Daniel Waldron played well for Boort.
