AS a relatively new resident to Bendigo (I relocated from Wollongong, NSW, in June 2013), I wish to applaud Bendigo residents, businesses and developers and the council on the retaining of the beautiful old buildings of the past and incorporating new developments so well into the landscape.

The excellent restaurants and cafes; the trams; the great art gallery and other interesting visual arts and museum points of interest; the theatre spaces; and the beautiful buildings of all faiths - current and proposed.
Not that I am an expert on the region, but it also appears to have a range of recreational and sports venues and pursuits.
And one must not forget the wonderful Lake Weeroona.
Keep it all, preserve what you have and continue to develop recognising the importance of what you have and have done.
Now, on the downside, it appears to me that VicRoads and Bendigo council have not kept apace with development and the resulting traffic issues, particularly in the Epsom/Ascot area (which is all I can speak about).
Nor have Bendigo council, commercial developers and the state government got together to determine a reasonable way to handle issues around lot number, street numbers and street names.
These issues negatively affect both residents and businesses, large and small.
