OMG, what a fabulous venue.
The opening ceremony on Friday night was attended by what I believe to be nearly 900 people.
People who had come together to celebrate the best that Bendigo can offer, sponsors/donors, community leaders, educators, politicians, tradespeople and the many many people that made this happen. How fabulous.
There has not been a day over this weekend that I have not be extremely proud to be a Bendigonian (I usually am, but this weekend more so).
I was part of a discussion back in 2005-06 (being a member of the Bendigo Senior Secondary College Council) discussing what was to happen with the old Bendigo Gaol.
I never believed (but happy that I was wrong) that we would and could achieve this most magnificent outcome.
My thanks and appreciation to go to Dale Pearce, Stan Liacos and David Lloyd for their vision and this wonderful result.
Ratepayers and citizens of the City of Greater Bendigo can be proud of this building and what it will bring to Bendigo for our community, not only in the short term but for the future generations that will be educated, trained and supported through this venue, and for the generations to come that will be amazed that an "old gaol" can be turned into something so magnificent, that even the sceptics are saying "we never believed that it could be this good".
Congratulations to the City of Greater Bendigo, your staff, volunteers and to so many people involved
You have done the City of Greater Bendigo proud.
