A fortnight after former Collingwood and Fremantle star Chris Tarrant played for Maryborough, McLean will line up against Kangaroo Flat.
McLean played 94 matches for Melbourne from 2004 to '09 and then 63 after crossing to Carlton.
The 29-year-old was delisted by the Blues at the end of last season.
Winless after two rounds, McLean's inclusion is a huge plus for the Borough's battle with Kangaroo Flat at Barkers Oval in Princes Park.
Maryborough also welcomes back young star Billy Mahony to play the Roos.
A talented onballer or midfielder, Mahony has played the opening three rounds of this year's TAC Cup action with the Bendigo Pioneers.
There are no TAC Cup matches this weekend.
Ins for Kangaroo Flat are Jayke Barrack and G. Preston.
Eaglehawk captain Luke Button is back in the seniors line-up to play Kyneton at Canterbury Park.
The Hawks and Tigers are on the rebound from defeat.
The unbeaten Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye do battle on Square's turf at MyJet Oval.
Che Walls is back for Square along with Jack Daley and Shaun Young.
