Ian Francis Jamieson, 64, appeared in court via video link on Wednesday.
The prosecution stated it could not accept a plea from Jamieson on Wednesday as a toxicology report had only been completed the day before.
The prosecution requested a two-week adjournment for the report to be analysed before it could consider Jamieson's plea.
Jamieson will reappear at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on April 29.
The case had previously been adjourned for six weeks after the defence requested a psychiatric report be compiled.
Jamieson is charged with three counts of murder for the shooting death of Greg Holmes, 48, his mother Mary Lockhart, 75, and her husband Peter Lockhart, 78 at properties south of Wedderburn on October 22.
