The Bendigo Spirit champion has signed on with the Lady Braves this season.
The talented player said she was looking forward to finally getting out on court after playing limited minutes with the Spirit last season.
Lavey said she was champing at the bit to play on Friday night in Ballarat.
“We have a good group of players here, so hopefully I get to play, which would be nice,” she said.
“I just want to play and I want to play well.
"That is one of my goals and as a team we certainly want to make finals, there is no doubt about that.
“Hopefully we can push for a championship.”
Lavey said she jumped at the opportunity to play with the Lady Braves.
She said she was feeling fresh and ready to fire against Ballarat.
“It is our first game, so everyone will be a bit up and down,” the 22-year-old said.
“We aren’t sure on what to expect, but it will be really good and tough and hopefully, we can get a win.”
The Lady Braves newest import Stacia Robertson has also touched down in the city.
Robertson, from High Point University in North Carolina, said the past three weeks had been a whirlwind.
“It was an opportunity that presented itself that I couldn’t really pass up," she said.
"It all happened really fast."
Robertson was one of High Point’s greatest players.
The 188cm star ranks fourth for all time points scored, second for rebounds and was also named the Big South Conference Player of the Year.
Robertson said her leadership qualities would put her in good stead.
“I play a lot more of an Australian style, just with more finesse, but I still like to battle at the post too, so I think it will help,” she said.
“I like to run; they like to run, so I think I am going to fit in alright."
Bendigo will take on the Ballarat Rush at the MARS Minedrome on Friday at 6pm.
