NBN Co has announced an extra 147,000 homes and businesses in Victoria will be added to the roll out with 46,900 in the Loddon Mallee region.
Bendigo is expected to have the majority of the new Loddon Mallee connections with Echuca-Moama, Red Cliffs and Swan Hill also included.
Other new areas added to the rollout include parts of Metro Melbourne with 56,200 connections, Barwon South West 5300, Gippsland 23,400 and North East 15,370.
NBN Co will release more detail on the new roll out at a press conference in Bendigo at 10.30am today.
NBN Co spokesman Trent Williams said the roll out expansion reflected the company's new, flexible multi-technology approach and was an important step toward reaching its goal of connecting eight million premises to the NBN by 2020.
“Our job is to ensure that all Australians can have access to very fast broadband as soon and as cost-effectively as possible. Every home and business will benefit from the nationwide upgrade to Australia’s broadband infrastructure,'' he said.
“The addition of a further 147,000 homes and businesses to the Victorian construction schedule demonstrates the continued momentum of the rollout.
“This is exciting news for the suburbs and towns which have been added to our construction schedule as it means work to build the network is expected to be underway by September 2016.”
The rollout of the NBN continues to build momentum; more than 195,000 families and businesses across Victoria are already able to connect to the National Broadband Network.
