POSITIVE steps taken forward by the Roos on the back of last season’s wooden spoon, which stung the club.
From the bottom of the ladder last year, the Roos went into the last round this season a live finals chance, but results didn’t go their way and they finished sixth.
The season could be looked back on as one of “what could have been”.
The Roos lost three games by seven runs or less, with two of those matches against finalists Strathdale-Maristians and Eaglehawk.
Sneak over the line in a couple of those games and the Roos play finals.
The Roos shrugged off a couple of hoodoos during the season, beating Bendigo United for the first time since 2004-05; and they defeated Golden Square for the first time since 2005-06.
Kangaroo Flat was led brilliantly by captain Adam Burns, who captured his third BDCA Cricketer of the Year, as well as winning the Addy-Bicknells Player of the Year.
Brent Hamblin helped form a dangerous one-two punch for the Roos, while Lachlan Shelton notched his maiden first XI ton.
