Bendigo Harriers star Jemuel Pryse was in line for a medal in the under-17 men's decathlon, with his 10 events on Thursday and Friday.
Older brother Blake is second going into Saturday's finish to the under-20 decathlon. Blake has scored 2795 points.
Fellow Harrier Lewis Cain is in the under-20 field.
Eaglehawk club member Carlie Whitford completes the under-20 women's heptathlon on Saturday and is due to run in the national open 100m hurdles race - featuring Olympic champion Sally Pearson - on Sunday.
