A statement released on Friday said the City of Greater Bendigo council had agreed to extend the consultation period for the future provision of HACC services in Greater Bendigo until April 2.
On February 11, the council made a provisional decision to withdraw from the delivery of HACC by September 30, 2015 and proceeded to consult with staff, clients, volunteers and the community.
To date there have been eight client and community consultation sessions, more than 10 official staff sessions and efficiency workshops and numerous informal meetings, and a meeting with volunteers since the announcement.
The statement said all feedback had been compiled for council’s consideration, including comments and concerns raised through phone calls, emails, and social media comments.
Mayor Peter Cox said the period for consultation would be extended to April 2 following a request by the Australian Services Union, which wants more time to consult its membership.
"Council wants to ensure that everyone impacted by this provisional decision has been given ample time to have their say before a final decision is made," he said.
