The app features templates for cover letters, resumes, tips on preparing for interviews, information on how to get a tax file number, advice on becoming work ready and a jobs board that are regularly updated.

The free app, called My Job, was developed by local app designers Thrive Web Design and the BSSC Managed Individual Pathways team.

Managed individual pathways coordinator Lorelle Pearse said hard work and enthusiasm was the driving force behind the creation of the app.

"We wanted to create something that would make the transition from school to work easier and give students the knowledge and confidence to achieve their goals," she said.

"Whether it be full-time, part-time or casual employment, the app not only describes it all, but also helps you get it."

The app is available from the ITunes App store and Google Play.

Local company “Thrive Web Design” took up the challenge to build an app that was useful, but would also grab people’s attention.

“We wanted to create an app that would empower students to take charge of their career and job search,” designer Dave Hanson said.

"I have teenage students who are beginning their working life and this gave me great insight when working on the app."
