The driver, a 32-year-old woman from Point Cook, was waiting behind the four wheel drive on Furness Street when she drove forward without realising the four wheel drive had not moved.
Her car crashed into the rear of the four wheel drive.
No one was injured but the Mitsubishi is significantly damaged and has been towed.
Leading Senior Constable Bullock said it was still drivable and would not be written off.
The woman will receive a fine.
EARLIER: Emergency crews are at the scene of a car crash on the Calder Highway at Furness Street, Kangaroo Flat.
Police are speaking with the owners of two vehicles.
One car, a Mitsubishi Lancer is quite damaged at the front.
Traffic is flowing smoothly on the Calder in both directions.
