The Jets this weekend play Sandhurst at Bendigo Door Centre Weeroona Oval in the final round of the season.
With Weeroona Oval unavailable the following week, the Dragons-Jets game will be played as a Saturday-Sunday match - much to the disappointment of Strathfieldsaye after the change of scheduling was made at short notice last Thursday.
Should the Jets win, they will be guaranteed just their second first XI finals berth since their last premiership in 2001.
However, if the Jets are beaten, they will be knocked out of the top four by the resurgent Kangaroo Flat if the Roos defeat top side Strathdale-Maristians at All Seasons Oval the following Saturday.
"It's disappointing to be playing this Sunday and only finding out last week, but it's up to us now to take the points and then we won't have to worry about any other results," Jets captain Ben Devanny said on Thursday.
The Jets are coming off a shocker with the bat last Saturday when they were bowled out for 55 chasing Eaglehawk's 173 at Flight Centre Park.
It continued ordinary post-Christmas batting form from the Jets, who in their three games since the mid-season break have been bowled out for 158, 178 and 55.
"It was a horrible day last Saturday, but at least we're in the position where it's still in our own hands," said Devanny, who has been the driving force behind the Jets' rise this season with 29 wickets and 626 runs.
"But we're going to need to bat a hell of a lot better than we have in our past three games.
"Our bowling has been good, but our batting has been really ordinary since Christmas and not good enough, so we need to improve on that this week."
