The Edwardian nanny who is smart, talented and creative will come to life on the Ulumbarra Theatre stage in July with Bendigo Theatre Company.
Auditions for the company's production of Mary Poppins will be held on March 20 and 21.
Cast hopefuls will have to sing, dance and act their way through the auditions.
"We really encourage people who can sing, dance or act to audition," director Matt Emond said.
"If you want an opportunity to step in to this wonderful space and to work with our creative team, we would love to see as many of Bendigo creative types as we can get involved."
An information day for the musical will be held on March 7 at the BTC Arts Shed in Allingham Street, Golden Square.
Rehearsals will begin on April 18 and the show opens for five performances between Thursday, July 9 and Saturday, July 12.
No roles have been cast yet and there are a wide range of roles to fill from the eccentric nanny herself and young children Jane and Michael to narrator and everyman Bert and the many characters he encounters.
The show will be the first community theatre show to feature at the new Ulumbarra Theatre.
"The exciting thing about the project is that the theatre hasn't even finished being built yet," Emond said.
"It's a lot different to The Capital, which has been a very loyal space over the years. But (Ulumbarra) is an amazing structure."
Audition bookings can be made at the information session on March 7 or by phone on 0401 678 102.
