2.25pm - Bendigo's Chris Hamilton elated with his ride today.
Hamilton hopeful of top 10 finish in GC. He is looking forward to Arthur's Seat on Sunday.
Peloton come through finish line more than 22 minutes behind.
2.05pm - Cam Meyer wins stage in sprint from Cooper. Bevan pips Simon Clarke for 3rd.
Meyer will be in yellow jersey, 4 seconds lear of Cooper.
Bndigo riders all finished in top 20.
Peloton 10 mins away.
2pm - Meyer and Cooper will fight out finish. Second group not chasing as they go past Shamrock Hotel the first time.
1.56pm - Meyer and Cooper have broken away. lead by 20 seconds with 3km to go.
1.53pm - 6km to go. 21 riders still in lead group. Good crowd at finish line waiting for finish.
1.40pm - Lead group still together. Expected to finish in Bendigo CBD just after 2pm.
1.30pm - Leaders storm through Lockwood with Hamilton at second wheel in a 3 man group attempting t get away.
Lead only a handful of seconds and appeared as though rest of the group would close gap.
1.20pm - Horsham raised and Bendigo based Mark O'Brien also in lead group. Leaders about 10 mins away from Lockwood.
1pm - the leaders have extended margin to more than 12 minutes.
Huge opportunity for Norris and Hamilton to have a great finish in front of home crowd.
Meyer and Clarke clearly the ones to beat.
12.45pm - Chris Hamilton's group back with leaders. Group of 21, including Hamilton, Norris, Cam Meyere and Simon Clarke, leads the peloton by 8 mins heading into Harcourt.
12.25pm - Lachlan Norris second in King of Mountain at Mt Alexander behind Robert Power. Norris in lead group of about 12 riders.
Fellow Bendigo rder Chris Hamilton in second group about 30 seconds behind.
12pm- Bendigo's Chris Hamilton also in breakaway group of 21 riders. Lead is more than 3 minutes heading towards Mt Alexander.
Caleb Ewan and prologue winner Will Clarke not in lead group.
11.25am - The breakaway group of 21 riders includes defending champ Simon Clarke, rising star Caleb Ewan, Cam Meyer and Bendigo's Lachlan Norris.
11.20am - After 25km of opening stage the breakaway group leads by just less than 2 minutes.
11.10am - A group of more than 30 riders have broken away and the gap is more than 30 seconds.
11.05am - King of the Mountain 1 results from Mt Macedon - 1. Robert Power 2. Brenton Candy 3. Serge Pauwels 4. Damien Howson.
10.40am - Stage one of the Herald Sun Tour is underway at Mt Macedon.
A big crowd was on hand to see the riders off, with Macedon Primary School students on hand to sing the national anthem.
Big day for Bendigo trio Lachlan Norris, Robbie Hucker and Chris Hamilton as they try to win the stage in front of their home crowd.
Fittingly, the final sprint into Bendigo this afternoon at the Shamrock Hotel has been named in honour of Bendigo cycling great Frank McCaig.
