The Hawks won all four rinks and restricted reigning premier Golden Square to just 66 shots in their 98-66 victory at home.
While the final margin was 32 shots, three of the Hawks’ wins were by only four shots or less.
The blowout result was Simon Carter’s 36-12 victory over Graham Edwards.
The 24-shot victory improved Carter’s rink to 11-1 for the season, while the rink of the Hawks’ Tony Ellis maintained its unblemished record with its 24-20 win over Gary Beckham.
Golden Square’s Marc Smith’s rink lost just its second game of the season when it was defeated 18-17 by Ken Rusbridge.
And the rink of Eaglehawk’s Phil Godkin made it five wins on the trot with its 20-17 triumph over Tas Wallis.
• Bendigo has set itself up for the double chance on the back of its impressive 26-shot win over Bendigo East.
Bendigo bounced back from a disappointing loss to Golden Square the previous week to defeat East 101-75.
The victory moves Bendigo 21 points clear in second spot of the third-placed East.
The only point East took from the game was David Keenan tieing 23-apiece with Ian Ross.
The other three rinks were all wins to Bendigo as skippers Andrew Brown, Barry Anset and Gary Carberry prevailed.
• The inconsistent Castlemaine kept alive its slim finals hopes with a 44-shot hiding of Inglewood.
The 116-72 win moved Castlemaine back within 18 points of the top four with two rounds left in the season.
Castlemaine’s rinks of Geoff Walsh (34), Rod Phillips (32) and Peter Brain (31) all scored at least 30 shots in their wins.
The only winning skipper for Inglewood was Lindsay Kelly, who scored a 21-19 victory over Rick Parr.
• Kangaroo Flat won its fourth game of the season, defeating South Bendigo by 17 shots.
That Flat avenged its earlier loss to South Bendigo in round five by winning 102-85.
Dean Carter, Luke Hoskin and Brad Marron were all winning skippers for the Flat, whose win came on the back of three losses in a row.
Ted Saltmarsh was the only winning skipper for South Bendigo after recording a 31-13 victory over John Carter.
• Ladder after round 12: Eaglehawk (173 pts, 287 shots); Bendigo (144, 129); Bendigo East (123, 44); Golden Square 114, 63); Castlemaine (96; -117); Kangaroo Flat (80, -110); South Bendigo (67, -129); Inglewood (65, -167).
