The Joe Borg-trainef Stompin’ will be out to atone for his defeat as an odds-on favourite last week when he steps out in the 425m final from box four.
Stompin’ uncharacteristically missed the start when resuming from a five-week break and worked hard before going down by half a length in his heat.
A winner at six of his 10 career starts, Stompin’ is a promising sprinter and if he begins cleanly this afternoon he should prove too slick for his rivals.
Tatura trainer Tanya Auld looks set to play a leading role in the Bendigo to Meadows series as kennelmates Soda Man and Nail Clipper are likely to dominate betting in their respective heats.
Soda Man, a winner of five of nine starts, including a slick 27.95 win at Bendigo, has drawn box eight in the fourth event and the box draw is probably the only concern for this youngster.
Nail Clipper, with best time at Bendigo of 27.89, is well placed in this series. He has won at 11 of 33 starts and from the box one draw he will be sent to the boxes a short priced favourite in race five.
Talented Heathcote sprinter Master Tron will be shooting for a hat-trick of wins in the fifth and final heat when he carries the white rug in race 11.
At his second outing for new trainer Ray Henness on January 2, Master Tron clocked a speedy 23.78 over the Bendigo 425m trip and then overcame trouble to score a determined victory on January 10.
Master Tron was placed twice over the 500m trip during a Vic Breeders Series back in October and he will be well suited by the step up in distance.
