Ms Clow said five fire trucks and about 30 firefighters from Bendigo, Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat attended the blaze which was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes.
It was believed there was no one inside the property at the time.
An ambulance wasn't required and police did not attend.
UPDATED 3.24pm: The house fire is under control.
CFA crews expect to remain on the scene for some time.

A Powercor worker has arrived at the scene to disconnect power to the home.

Firefighters are battling the blaze from inside and outside the house.

It is believed no one is inside the building.
