The Lockwood Crossing is set for a $3 million upgrade to improve road safety.
Lauren Knight, who has lived in the area for 10 years, said the roundabout would make a big difference.
"It's a dangerous stretch of road. I think it's a brilliant idea," she said.
Ms Knight said she was not concerned about a possible increase in noise from trucks and said the lives of people were more important.
She said there had been a dramatic increase in road safety following a reduction of the speed limit on approach to the crossing.
"I think it has to be done. It's one of those intersections," she said.
"And the people complaining about the cost, how much do you put on the price of a person's life?
"It will make a huge difference."
VicRoads plans to call tenders for the construction of the project later this year.
