Aylene Kirkwood has volunteered at the celebration for more years than she could remember.
She said it might have been as early as the '70s.
"Everyone here just pulls together and gets things done," she said.
Rotary Club of Eaglehawk Australia Day Committee chairman Colin Anderson said the morning had been a success.
"The day is about getting together to have a good time anywhere you want to in Australia," he said.
"It's also an opportunity to acknowledge local heroes from the area.
"Through the ambassador program we will have speakers from the community present during the day."
Mayor Peter Cox said young people Emma Lewis, Luke Owens and Breanna Tivendale were examples of the community spirit.
