George Moore, a licensed catcher, said the 2014/15 season had been slightly busier than the previous year.
He said the most common sightings were for brown and red belly black snakes, which are venomous.
"It tends to get busy in October when they start to wake up. Then as the summer draws out and the heat settles in I get less calls because it's too hot," Mr Moore said.
Mr Moore said the perfect temperature for snakes to appear was about 29 degrees.
He said over the past several weeks he had been called to sightings at Kangaroo Flat and Lake Weeroona.
Mr Moore said about two weeks ago he removed a brown snake from a Bendigo woman's closet.
"It was about six foot long. She said she saw something go into the house," he said.
"She was very freaked out."
Mr Moore said it wasn't uncommon to find a snake inside a house.
He said the reptiles often entered through pipes located under a property.
He said people who sight a snake should not touch it and remain at a safe distance. He said if the snake is posing a threat people should call him on 0428 195 941.
It is illegal to kill snakes that are endangered.
