THREE streets, three flash floods and three different examples.
North Central Catchment Management Authority highlighted Nolan Street, as well as Bay Street, Golden Square and Pioneer Drive, Maiden Gully as three of the worst hit streets from Friday's heavy rain.
Speaking at Monday's media briefing, North Central CMA chief executive officer Damian Wells said the three streets responded in predictable ways to rising water.
"For Nolan Street, our modeling proved very accurate," he said.
"It was good for the agency to be able to communicate the likely outcome in our modeling. Of course, it was not good for the car owners."
Water pooled in the street as drainage could not cope with large down flows.
At Bay Street, residents report flooding events every five years as the rising Bendigo Creek engulfs the bridge.
Infrastructure improvements to prevent the situation could total in the millions as a replacement bridge would be required.
Mr Wells said council needed to weigh up the cost-benefit of such projects.
"You would need to spend huge sums of money, which would just mean preventing the road from closing every few years," he said.
Pioneer Drive in a modern estate in Maiden Gully experienced heavy water flows down the street.
No major damage was reported, however.
Mr Wells said the street provided a good example of a well designed flood mitigation area.
"You want water moving out through the roadways, not the houses," he said.
"The rising water was caused by local flooding hitting a little suburb, where all the drains were full of water."
The CMA will continue to use modeling to guide the council's municipal emergency plan.
