Long regarded as Victoria's cycling hub, or maybe that should be mecca, Bendigo continues to roll out the stars.
Although most of their racing is on the mountain bike circuit, Hamilton and Mullens again showed they can match it with the country's best on the streets.
What's more remarkable is that both have represented Australia in MTB racing.
Mullens raced to 12th place in the cross-country event of the MTB action at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
In a city that's had many cycling stars over the years, Hamilton and Mullens are adding more chapters to a rich history of success.
Their pursuit of title success at Ballarat is not done.
There's still the road race on the gruelling circuit at Buninyong for Hamilton and Mullens to contest on Saturday.
After such a stunning start they could well be at or near the front of the pack once again in Saturday's run up and down themountain.
