Dot was one of the originals of the group.
She joined after her friend, Myrtle Waterson, asked if she would be interested.
“She asked one day if I’d like to volunteer and I said I would, for sure,” Dot said.
“I mainly sell raffle tickets and help with the barbecues at Bunnings.
“I’m not very handy with the craft work. I wouldn’t have a clue where to start.”
The group has been going for about seven years.
“Myrtle had an operation there and was so please with how it went she got a group together to help them out,” Dot said.
The money Dot and her friends raise goes to new equipment for the ward as well as things to make the patients more comfortable.
Dot said she the things she enjoys most about volunteering is meeting new people.
“I really enjoy having a yak to different people,” she said.
