Premier Daniel Andrews revealed on Friday that the Victorian Law Reform Commission would submit a report on medical marijuana by the end of August next year.

Importantly, Mr Andrews said that report would determine when, not if, the law would change to give the terminally and chronically ill access to medical marijuana.

Such news is sure to finally deliver real hope to those who have been campaigning so long to legally access something that can change the lives of loved ones in dire need.

It's been clear for a long time that medical marijuana has huge benefits and it's heartening to see politicians finally acting to remove the legal hurdles around its use.

Let's hope the bill gets universal endorsement and passes swiftly.
