How did you get involved in basketball? I began to play in 2011 for the Beavers domestic team, in under-12s. I had participated in the Aussie Hoops skills program for several seasons, with former Lady Brave player Andrea Walsh.
What do you love about it? Basketball provides me with a team environment where I have made heaps of great friends and it also gives me a good level of fitness. I love seeing the results of all the hard work and training I put in when I have success in team selections. Being involved in representative sides is very rewarding.
Major basketball achievements:
Under-14 Victorian Junior Basketball League premiers 2012-13
Southern Cross Challenge 2014 premiers with Vic Country Goldminers
National Intensive Training Program squad of 2014-15
Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup 2015 squad, representing Victoria Country.
What do you hope to gain from your time in the NITP? I hope to gain confidence, broaden my basketball IQ, learn as many new things as I can, and be the best player I can be. NITP will give me the skills and knowledge that will further my career.
What has been the highlight of your basketball career so far? Being part of the 2014 SCC under-15 premiership team with the Goldminers and being the first Victoria Country team to win this tournament. Also, playing in the Bendigo Womens Championship League with and against some of the best lady basketballers in Australia. I was even lucky enough to be part of the premiership team.
What are your future basketball goals? To continue representing the Bendigo Braves and Victoria Country at the Country Cup; to represent Victoria Country in the under-16 and under-18 squads; to play for the Bendigo Lady Braves and to one day play WNBL.
