The water cannons, tippy buckets, bubblers and more will be switched on for the first time at 3pm for the opening of the Cunneen Street site.
The gold rush-themed splash park includes touch pad technology for children to activate the 16 water sequences, shooting water from a variety of different sets of play equipment.
The equipment is on non-slip concrete and water continually drains away to be recycled and filtered.
A giant shade sail covers the majority of the area, with a basketball court, barbecue area, picnic tables and drinking fountain nearby.
Residents voted on the winning design for the $570,000 project.
Mayor Peter Cox said he was pleased to see the park opening in time for the hottest weather of the year.
"It is wonderful the Splash Park could open in time for Christmas to help people cool off during the summer months," he said.
"It can also be used as a play space during winter, so it is useful all year round."
After the opening, the splash park will be open from 9am to 8pm until the end of March next year.
The opening will include a free sausage sizzle and residents can bring their own picnic lunches.
The official opening of the Long Gully Splash Park will take place at 3pm on Friday, December 19, at Cunneen Street, Long Gully.
