The campaign will run for two weeks across the City of Greater Bendigo and the Shires of Central Goldfields, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Campaspe and Mt Alexander.
We are calling on members of the community to report any information they know on drug activity in their area.
We are asking people to make a confidential call to Crime Stoppers, or to report online if they have information about people manufacturing or distributing methamphetamine, known as ice, across the region.
On Tuesday I joined hundreds of other community members in the Bendigo Walks for White Ribbon Day.
It was great to see the number of people participating, a huge increase from last year. Anj Barker, a victim of a serious assault, was a keynote speaker and her story highlighted to all present why we must all work towards eliminating and make a stand against violence against women.
The crimes that are most prevalent across the City of Greater of Bendigo as of late are burglaries, both residential and commercial, and property continues to be stolen from motor cars.
Bearing this in mind, simple crime prevention strategies can be adopted. Homes can be made more secure with security doors and locks on windows. Lock your cars and don’t leave property in them that can be targeted by criminals.
As we move into December, police will continue their efforts to make our roads safer.
Operation Raid targeting drug and alcohol impaired drivers continues until December 7, with more operations being conducted through to early January. During the holiday season you will see an increase in foot and bicycle patrols around our busy central business district.
I will also be calling on some of our specialist police units to assist us in policing the City of Greater Bendigo.
As mentioned previously, we currently have the Crime Stoppers Dob in a Dealer’ campaign.
The confidential Crime Stoppers telephone number and online reporting system can also be used to provide information on other types of crime and hoon driving.
The Crime Stoppers number is 1800 333 000.
If you see something, say something.
