Last time: Golden Square 239 dr Eaglehawk 0-0 (semi-final).
Since 2000: Eaglehawk 15; Golden Square 8.
GOLDEN SQUARE - came up 15 runs short against Kangaroo Flat last week to suffer its second loss of the season.
Still missing in-form paceman Scott Woodman in what’s a blow to the bowling stocks, while veteran Grant Connelly will lead the side again in the absence of injured Tim Wood.
Jake Higgins has been in good touch with the bat the past two games with 69 and 44, while he is also the leading wicket-keeper in the BDCA with 14 dismissals.
• Runs - Scott Johnson (226); Jason Johnson (147); Liam Smith (121). Wickets - Scott Woodman (15); Jamie Bysouth (8).
EAGLEHAWK - won’t want to keep relying on the bowlers to get it out of trouble.
Two games in a row the Hawks have been able to defend mediocre totals of 181 and 161 thanks to the efforts of Richard Tibbett, Brodie Hawke, Shaun Knott and co.
Young Hawke is having a breakout season for the Hawks after last week making his first half-century (54) to go with the nine wickets he has taken with his crafty leg-spin.
• Runs - Jason Abbott (196); Matt Fitt (184); Anthony West (138). Wickets - Richard Tibbett (9); Brodie Hawke (9).
WHITE HILLS v STRATHDALE-MARISTIANS - 1pm Saturday at Glenn Loddon Homes Oval, White Hills
Last time: Strathdale-Maristians 6-279 d White Hills 152.
Since 2000: Strathdale 10; White Hills 3; Tied 1.
WHITE HILLS - a 2-3 start certainly hasn’t justified the pre-season talk that the Demons could be one of the big improvers this summer.
No consistency yet at the Demons, with their formline reading LWLWL.
After Tyler Oliver made his first XI debut last week, the Demons have given another opportunity to a first-gamer in Will Schofield.
• Runs - Brayden Stepien (259); Gavin Bowles (227); Mitch Winter-Irving (190). Wickets - Mitch Winter-Irving (8); Rhys Irwin (7).
STRATHDALE-MARISTIANS - having been 1-2 after three rounds, the Suns are back up and about now.
They’ve beaten Bendigo United and Bendigo the past two rounds, during which they’ve plundered scores of 8-344 and 8-328.
The Suns regain the hard-hitting Adrian Pappin to take on an opponent that he last season smashed 155 against.
The Suns to make it three in a row.
• Runs - Cameron Taylor (284); Ben DeAraugo (188); Nick Baker (169). Wickets - Cameron Taylor (14); Nick Roebuck (9).
BENDIGO v SANDHURST - 1pm Saturday at Provincial Home Loans Oval, North Bendigo
Last time: Bendigo 6-376 d Sandhurst 128.
Since 2000: Sandhurst 10; Bendigo 8.
BENDIGO - it has been tough going with the ball for the Goers, who last round conceded their third score above 300 for the season against Strathdale.
There were some positives to come out of last week’s heavy loss to the Suns, namely the batting performance of Alex Pearson (80), and young leggie James Ryan (3-57) snaring three wickets.
Captain Marcus McKern returns to lead the side.
• Runs - Nathan Fitzpatrick (190); Kyle Chant (143); Mitch Blackman (137). Wickets - Nathan Fitzpatrick (8).
SANDHURST - two games in a row the Dragons have had the opposition on the ropes, but haven’t been able to deliver the knockout blow.
The Dragons blew it with the bat against Eaglehawk in round four, before surrendering a position of dominance with the ball against Bendigo United last week.
Should at least be 4-1, instead of 2-3.
• Runs - Craig Howard (171); Shane Robinson (142); Lucas Hutchinson (102). Wickets - Craig Howard (16); Liam Bowe (10).
HUNTLY-NORTH EPSOM v BENDIGO UNITED - 1pm Saturday at Poyser Motors Oval, Huntly
Last time: Bendigo United 203 d Huntly-North Epsom 150.
Since 2000: Bendigo United 14; Huntly-North Epsom 3.
HUNTLY-NORTH EPSOM - a frustrating season for the Power.
Just as they did against Kangaroo Flat in round two, the Power last week took four early wickets against Eaglehawk bowling first to be firmly in control, before faltering with the bat and losing.
Became the first team this season to be bowled out for under 100 last week when dismissed by the Hawks for 92.
• Runs - Adam Ward (265); Harry Whittle (102); Michael Hanson (102). Wickets - Adam Ward (11); Dylan Gibson (9).
BENDIGO UNITED - lived up to the old adage last week of good sides just know how to win.
Chasing Sandhurst’s 209, the Redbacks recovered from 8-152 and later 9-189 to win and improve to 3-2.
Ben Gunn is in ominous form for the Redbacks, with three scores of 73, 53 and 66 among his four innings so far.
Out-of-form team-mate Nick Crawford could do with some of those runs.
• Runs - Ben Gunn (217); Heath Behrens (179); Wayne Fidler (153). Wickets - Miggy Podosky (9); Nick Crawford (9).
KANGAROO FLAT v STRATHFIELDSAYE - 1pm Saturday at N8Health Oval, Kangaroo Flat.
Last time: Strathfieldsaye 6-285 d Kangaroo Flat 175.
Since 2000: Kangaroo Flat 10; Strathfieldsaye 9.
KANGAROO FLAT - apologies to the Roos.
I tipped them to finish on the bottom of the ladder, but there are positive signs.
Their win over long-time nemesis Golden Square last week was their second of the season and already doubles last summer’s tally of one.
The batting is holding up well, with back-to-back scores of 6-256 and 8-293.
Can’t afford to drop off in this game.
• Runs - Adam Burns (188); Brent Hamblin (183); Lachlan Shelton (142). Wickets - Adam Burns (17); Brent Hamblin (13).
STRATHFIELDSAYE - you've got to go back to Strathfieldsaye’s only BDCA premiership season of 2000-01 for the last time the Jets won four games in a row.
But win this one against Kangaroo Flat and it will be four on the trot.
More significantly, it will improve them to 4-2 and likely have them in the top four approaching the halfway mark of the season.
Massive opportunity.
• Runs - Ben Devanny (342); Greg Lyon (198); Bodee Scullie (141). Wickets - Ben Devanny (13); Cory Devanny (10).
