BENDIGO cycling star Jack Haig is set to race with Orica-GreenEDGE on the World Tour.

A previous winner of the national road series, Haig enjoyed a successful road season split between Australia and Europe.

He started the year by winning the best young rider jersey in the Tour Down Under and the Jayco Herald-Sun Tour.

A highlight in February was third placing in the Herald-Sun Tour stage raced from Ballarat to his hometown of Bendigo.

Haig was third overall in the Herald-Sun Tour, which was won by Tour de France competitor and now Orica-GreenEdge team-mate Simon Clarke.

The 21-year-old is a multiple monthly winner in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Advertiser-Prime 7 Sports Star of the Year award.

Haig also earned a Cyril Michelsen Trust Fund award in Sports Star, which is now celebrating its 50th year.

Racing in Europe with the Jayco WorldTour Academy this year,  Haig finished second overall and won the best young rider title at the Tour d'Alsace in July.

He joins Orica-GreenEDGE after a successful stint with Avanti Racing.

Haig is a previous winner of the Tour of Tasmania and has excelled in mountain bike racing.
