People should gather at the Bendigo Town Hall at 11.45am for a noon start.
Inspector Ron Gardner and Anj Barker will kick off activities by speaking to the crowd about their experiences of family violence.
Inspector Gardner is the community engagement officer in the South East Region, while women's right activist Anj Barker was brutally bashed by her ex-boyfriend at age 16.
A community march will follow the speeches, followed by a barbecue at Kalianna Special Development School and entertainment by Hiphopportunities for Youth.
Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre lawyer Bonnie Renou said the day would be a colourful affair.
"There's going to be a lot of noise - motorbikes, school and community groups marching," she said.
She said community organisations and school groups around Bendigo had created banners for the day and a big fibreglass elephant painted by survivors of family violence would be present as well.
She said it was important to raise awareness of family violence.
"It's promoting to the public the issue of family violence and that there is support if people want it," she said.
She said police reports of family violence had dramatically increased in recent years, but this was partially due to a greater understanding of the issue and greater availability of information.
She said the centre welcomed both political parties' recent commitments to reducing family violence but would like to see a Family Violence Court instated in Bendigo.
Centre for Non-Violence prevention and management manager Robyn Trainor said the day represented an important opportunity for men to come together to take a stand on the issue.
“Men coming out and taking action to say this issue is not okay sends a strong message to other men," she said.
"It demonstrates the reality that not all men are violent and this is not acceptable.
"It’s not just a women’s issue …men can come out and challenge (violence) too."
