The festival kicked off at 11am but experienced a substantial downpour of rain at about 1pm leaving visitors soaked through and hiding under tents.
Belvoir Park Estate's Greg McClure said the weather has been unpredictable in the week leading up to event.
"We are bathed in sunshine right now and a few minutes ago it was raining," he said.
"Everyone has stayed around under cover.
"We have had at least 700 to 800 this year, that's 200 up on last year.
"I think the weather forecast scared lots away."
