The prize is given to the organisation's member schools, which also includes Weeroona College, the Catholic College Bendigo and Bendigo South East College.
It is given to a student who displays excellence in history and is chose by a teacher. Girton Grammar School head of humanities Elli Monro selected Miss Jayasekera.
Bendigo Historical Society president Jim Evans said Miss Jayasekera received a $50 cheque to help with her schooling and a selection of Bendigo Historical Society history publications.
"It is good the school are teaching local Bendigo history and the students have shown they are very keen to learn," Mr Evans said.
"I have taken a few students for walks around the city. They always ask questions and follow up with other learning in their classrooms."
